Southern Marin Regional House Meeting

On Wednesday, August 14 there will be a Southern Marin Regional House Meeting at Kol Shofar 6:30--8:30. MOC members from Southern Marin institutions, Kol Shofar, Congregational Community Church, Mt. Tam Methodist, Seniors for Peace, and hopefully MVCAN will meet to continue discussions about the 5 issues which have been identified thus far as important to the MOC membership. We'll have small group discussions about the issues below.

There are three main themes that have been dominant in our conversations in all institutions:

Housing

 Fear of losing homes permeated every house meeting
 For some it was the rising costs of rents – this week’s news
highlighted that a Marin household needed to earn $61 per hour
in order to afford a two bedroom apartment
 Others cited the insecurity of staying in their homes even
though the mortgage was paid
 Although increasing jobs have been created, there is no place for
people to live

Mental Health
 (Concerns related to) Aging

And there are two additional themes that overlay everything that we work on:

Addressing the impacts of Climate Change
Civic Participation
