COMACT NOW TO STOP RECALL: HELP NEEDED FOR “NO ON RECALL” CAMPAIGNS Canvassing (NEW!) - Phone Banking - Texting - Postcarding

This recall election is a crucial election for California--and our country. The consequences are huge. If we lose our Democratic Governor on September 14, all the gains we've made building back our economy, fighting Covid and climate change, and preserving our democracy will be erased.

Recent polling shows that the race is close. If more than 50% of voters VOTE NO ON THE RECALL, we keep our state moving forward. If less than 50% of voters say No On The Recall, the leading Republican vote-getter, with as little as 20% of the vote, becomes Governor. We cannot allow a Republican far to the right of Trump to take control of the biggest Blue state in the country and move us backward.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Join us to get out the vote. Reach out to your friends and family to make sure they VOTE NO ON THE RECALL. Tell them all they have to do is VOTE NO ON THE FIRST QUESTION: should we recall Governor Newsom. It's that simple.

CANVASSING FOR "NO ON RECALL"

Please join our MVCAN Electoral Team for “No On The Recall '' canvassing, which will kick-off Saturday, Sept 4.

We know that in person door-to-door canvassing is the most effective way to get out the vote, and with polls tied, we want to make sure every Democrat mails in their ballot and votes No On The Recall. We will be canvassing with Democracy Action Marin, MVCAN, & the Marin Democratic Party door-to-door to Get Out The Vote. We plan to canvass in Mill Valley, Sausalito, and Tiburon, plus Corte Madera and Larkspur.

Join us on the weekend of September 4-5, and the final GOTV 4-day weekend Saturday, Sept. 11 thru Tuesday Sept 14.

To participate on Sat 9/4 and Sun 9/5 REGISTER HERE.

To participate Sat 9/11 through Tues 9/14 REGISTER HERE

We will kick-off canvassing Saturday, 9/4 and Sunday 9/5 at 10 am. There will be 2 shifts both days, from 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm.

The canvassing will take place outdoors from start-to-finish and will follow all Covid safety protocols, including masking and social distancing.

We will be using the very convenient PDI Mobile App. All canvassers will be trained to use the app and briefed on voting in the September 14 election beforehand. There will be a Zoom training on Thursday, September 2 at 6 pm, and a recording of this training and online written materials will be available afterwards.

Please contact MVCAN’s canvass coordinator, Larry Litvak at llitvak@aol.com with any questions.

Also, Susan Bolle has NO ON RECALL yard signs and window signs (no charge). If you live on a well-traveled street, or if you have friends who do, please come by to pick them up at Susan’s house in Tiburon. Just email her at swbolle@gmail.com when you can come by and she’ll give you the address & leave them by her front gate.

PHONE BANKING FOR “NO ON RECALL”

We will continue our No On Recall phone banks Saturdays 3-5pm and Tuesdays 6-8pm through Sept. 11. Register here to join us and get trained on an excellent new autodialer we are featuring which has enabled volunteers to talk to 25-40 voters per session!

Join our Phone Banks - Saturdays 3 - 5pm and Tuesdays 6 - 8pm

REGISTER FOR PHONE BANKS HERE

At all our phone banks you will get training from our experienced coaches who will give you background into the election and guide you from start to finish.

TEXTING FOR “NO ON RECALL”

We will be texting voters to remind them that their recall ballot is coming and ask them to plan the method they will be using to cast their ballot.

We are focused on texting with Stop The Republican Recall. If you have already texted with Stop the Recall, return to their Slack channel and get on Spoke to text some more.

For those who have not yet done this, here is the link to get training and get started: STOP THE RECALL TEXT TRAINING.

If you have any questions or issues, you can get help on Slack from the campaign staffers or you can email Corrie at corriesias11@gmail.com.

POSTCARDING FOR “NO ON RECALL”

We are joining Activate America’s (formerly Flip the West) campaign to fight the recall by sending postcards to Democrats to remind them to get out and vote NO on September 14. (Once we’ve finished with this very important campaign, we’ll resume the Reclaim Our Vote work that we’ve been doing.)

If you would like to write postcards to STOP THE RECALL, let Bob at politicalbobh@gmail.com know how many voter names and addresses you want. Please note that these cards need to be mailed by August 30.

AIRLIFT - MAKE A DONATION TO NEW, SPECIAL RECALL FUND “AIRLIFT CALIFORNIA”

The Gubernatorial recall election is a toss-up now! Airlift grassroots groups in California are working furiously to get out the word on the recall election where it matters most

-- in Orange County and the Central Valley. They are hiring as many community members as they can afford to both phone bank and “Covid-safe Canvass” door-to-door.

If Governor Newsom were to lose the September 14 election, California could forfeit progress on housing access, immigrant protection, voting rights, climate change, public education and the battle against Covid. Now you can help them make the difference:

DONATE TO AIRLIFT CALIFORNIA

Your donations will be split evenly between the following two grassroots groups:

Orange County Community Engagement Table (OCCET)

This group has built an AAPI-Latinx-Labor-Environmental Justice alliance to develop progressive power in one of the traditionally reddest counties in the state. Increasing the voter engagement of these growing groups in the county changes the electorate in the County.

Communities for a New California (CNC)
The CNC Action Fund group is running a smart, engaging campaign to ensure their constituents are registered, aware of the recall and prepared to vote No. Their bilingual digital campaign is supported by phone bankers who explain the recall process and exactly how critical it is to cast a ballot.

Airlift has already received $22,000 in donations to AIRLIFT CALIFORNIA. Please add your donation to this important effort.

SUPPORT NOAH GRIFFIN FOR TOWN COUNCIL IN TIBURON

Noah Griffin has taken a prominent role in advocating for racial and social justice in Tiburon. The Belvedere/Tiburon Community Action Network (BTCAN), a community partner organization to MVCAN, has endorsed Griffin for the Tiburon Town Council seat.

While Noah will not start an active campaign until the Recall election is over, there are 3 things that people can do that would help Noah's campaign. All can be done through the campaign website:

1. Document your endorsement on the signup page reached through Join, Volunteer and Endorse tab at the top of the website.

2. Hit the Contribute button on the website, and make a contribution.

3. Help get out the word that Noah is running, tell your friends, and support the campaign on Facebook.

4

MILL VALLEY STARTS NEW CLIMATE ACTION TASK FORCE

The City of Mill Valley is forming a new Climate Action Plan Task Force. This Task Force will serve as the public forum for discussing the Climate Action Plan Update, including identifying proposed emission reduction targets and programs.

The Climate Action Task Force will meet monthly beginning September 2021 through March 2022. They will present the Draft Climate Action Plan to the Planning Commission and City Council for formal adoption in April 2022. Task Force meeting dates will be determined once members are established.

To get regular updates on progress of the Climate Action Task force, please contact marilynfrankprice@gmail.com and sign up for the MVCAN ECO Team newsletter.

1

GREAT MVCAN ANNUAL PICNIC IN JULY

The MVCAN members who were able to attend our first in-person event this year enjoyed wonderful food, conversation and weather! More than 40 people attended, and we were delighted to host our County Supervisor Stephanie Moulton-Peters, as well as the reform candidate for Marin Sheriff, Adam McGill, who will be running in June 2022.

2

JOHN LEWIS VIGIL AND VOTING RIGHTS RALLY - JULY 17

Last month a huge crowd turned out at Corte Madera Town Park for a moving and musical vigil to honor the anniversary of the passing of hero John Lewis and to speak out to defend voting rights that are currently under threat.

The “good trouble” vigil was hosted by our wonderful colleagues at Democracy Action Marin, Indivisible Marin, and Indivisible Sausalito. Rally monitor jobs were filled by brightly vested MVCAN volunteers - many thanks to Bernard Catalinotto and his enthusiastic crew for helping the Vigil go so smoothly!
