#1 - PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL MVCAN ZOOM MEETING
Sun. June 14, 5- 5:40pm

At this brief MVCAN meeting, we will be discussing and preparing for MVCAN’s and community supporters’ participation in the upcoming Mill Valley City Council meeting (Monday, June 15, 5:30pm) covering issues related to Black Lives Matter. Anyone can join in the meeting: ZOOM LINK

We will cover the following:

  • Review and critique the city staff recommended actions for the City Council meeting that were published on the Mill Valley city website Saturday.
To see staff report, click HERE.

  • Plan coordinated MVCAN statements and questions (one allowed per attendee) during open participation time during the City Council meeting to create maximum impact, assure subject coverage and demonstrate our solidarity, as we ask the City Council to give specific answers about their intentions.

  • Get updates on the latest events in Mill Valley. Issues are evolving rapidly.

Given MVCAN’s previous communications with the City Council, the members are highly aware of our demands. Let's continue to have our demands heard loud and clear. Everything will not be accomplished in one City Council meeting, but Monday is an important next step.

#2 - PARTICIPATE REMOTELY IN MILL VALLEY CITY COUNCIL MEETING
- Mon. June 15, 5:30pm

How to attend the city council meeting using Zoom in a webinar format:

  • Local television: tune in to Comcast Channel 27 and AT&T Channel 99

Please note, due to this meeting’s time change, it will not be listed in your program/T.V. guide but will be broadcast starting at 5:30 P.M.

Guidelines for Making Comments at the City Council Meeting (Zoom):

  • If you are attending the MV City Council meeting, but can’t make the MVCAN prep meeting on Sunday, please be sure when posing a question in the city council meeting to identify yourself as a MVCAN member. It appears that everyone is allowed one two-minute comment during the course of the meeting or about 200 words written. Note though that short, incisive comments are sometimes more effective.

  • As a separate communication before the meeting you may email comments to cityclerk@cityofmillvalley.org no later than 4:00 P.M. Monday, June 15, 2020. They will be forwarded to the City Council and included in the public record. Be sure to include the agenda item number you are addressing, as well as your full name and address. PLEASE IDENTIFY YOURSELF as an MVCAN member in your message. Feel free to reiterate the MVCAN demand closest to your heart.

  • In real time (only) during the meeting, use the “Raise Hand” function in Zoom or press *9 if you are calling in to let the City Clerk know you want to speak. The City Clerk will select you from the meeting cue when it is your turn to address the Council.

  • Also in real time during the meeting alternatively, use the eComment Program www.cityofmillvalley.org/eComment during the meeting, and your submission will be read verbatim into the record (eComments limited to 2 minutes of reading aloud). This will be our primary means of getting our ideas across during the meeting.

#3 - SIGN MVCAN PETITION

LET’S SHOW OUR STRENGTH AND GET TO 500 SIGNATURES for the MV CITY COUNCIL MEETING TIME MONDAY!

SIGN OUR PETITION HERE or at mvcan.org.

WE HAVE GREATER IMPACT BY SHOWING WE HAVE LARGE NUMBERS, AND WE SPEAK WITH ONE VOICE!

You can sign the petition even if you don’t live in Mill Valley (94941).

Please, please ask your networks to sign. MVCAN has presented a list of seven demands regarding the council’s refusal to address many critical issues being targeted by Black Lives Matter, plus other important issues that address a range of actions of the council. We are demanding that the City Council prove they are responsive to Marin Community values in a way they have not for many years!
