WHAT WE DID THIS WEEK
Our monthly network meeting Sun., Jan. 8 was FANTASTIC! Despite a gale storm, local flooding and a power outage at the MV Community Center, 140+ old and new members attended. The meeting featured inspiring speakers, team meetings, sign painting, action items, strategizing, and networking time. A representative from Rep. Jared Huffman’s office addressed the group. Attendees included Marin County Supervisor Kate Sears and multiple representatives from allied grassroots organizations. Look for a story about the meeting in next Sunday’s Marin I.J.
MVCAN was an early supporter of Rep. Jared Huffman's decision to boycott the Inaugural. Our Leadership Team met with his district director on Jan 4 to show the Congressman that he had strong constituent support for the boycott. Read about it in the IJ: http://www.marinij.com/article/NO/20170109/NEWS/170109817. We are so proud of his righteous stand!
Civil Rights/immigration is working on local activism and with the ACLU and other groups, as well as spearheading our support of the Marin City MLK march.
Dump Trump is working on ways to defeat His agenda, especially by focusing on corruption and Russia ties.
Next meeting Sat Jan 14th, 10am. Good Earth, Mill Valley
Environment/Climate Change is working to oppose Scott Pruitt and other climate deniers at the Federal level (Senate confirmation hearing), as well as connecting with local groups.
Next meeting Sun Jan 22, 4-6pm. 238 E. Blithedale Avenue.
Outreach/Communication is focused on onboarding new members, birthing new teams, providing graphic and promotional support for MVCAN, and helping large meetings be an organized, rewarding experience.
Next meeting Sat Jan 14th, 10am. Good Earth, Mill Valley
