THIS WEEK: MVCAN PROTESTS DACA DECISION

MVCAN members participated in DACA protests at the SF Federal Building Tuesday evening along with 1500 other activists. MVCAN members also attended a Tuesday meeting at the Marin Office of Education to find out how to fight this decision. There are estimated to be 1,500 to 2,000 Dreamers living in Marin impacted by this decision.

STOP WORRYING, DO SOMETHING! HERE IS YOUR MINIMUM WEEKLY DOSE OF IMPORTANT PHONE CALLS:

With the California legislative session deadline looming many MVCAN Action teams continue their awesome work to get important CA legislation across the finish line. These bills provides critical counter to the reactionary federal agenda and a way to advance model progressive legislation. Remember to check the Action Team pages on the website for more.

ACTION #1:

SB 100 IS ON THE CA STATE ASSEMBLY FLOOR - MAKE THIS CRUCIAL CALL TODAY TO HELP CALIFORNIA REACH 100% CLEAN ELECTRICITY!

Last week we saw record-high temperatures in the Bay Area and alarm bells have been going off around the world: extreme flooding in Houston and Mumbai and extreme heat in California and the Middle East. WE CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO WAIT FOR 100% CLEAN ENERGY. Dirty fossil fuel interests cannot be allowed to determine our future.

CALL TODAY TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!! Call Our State Assemblyman Marc Levine, who has not yet taken a public stand, at 916 319-2010 to urge him to vote for SB 100. Say you’re from MVCAN. It only takes a few minutes! More info here.

ACTION #2:

Let's get the CA Values Act (aka Sanctuary State Bill) passed by calling the constituents of swing Democrats to make sure they vote the right way!

The Courage Campaign has an easy-to-use calling tool through Hubdialer.com that can be used at home to call citizens in districts where the Democratic California Assembly rep has not committed to supporting the bill. The week-long phone bank for SB 54 goes through today, Friday, September 8. Use your computer and log into hubdialer.com   Sign in as a volunteer.   The Campaign ID is 10151 and the 6 Digit Pass Code is 545454.

IT'S ALMOST THE WEEKEND AGAIN!
